(Boston, MA)- After an extensive national search, Spaulding Rehabilitation and the Continuing Care Division of Partners HealthCare recently announced that Sandra Sedacca will join the organization in the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Philanthropy and Chief Development Officer effective November 28, 2016. Spaulding Rehabilitation is one of the leading rehabilitation providers in the country with a #5 ranking in US News & World Report Best Hospitals Survey and serves as a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School.

“We are thrilled to have Sandra bring her strong record in philanthropy to Spaulding as we look to expand our efforts in research, care and advocacy,” said David Storto, President, Spaulding Rehabilitation. “Her vision and leadership will greatly enhance our already strong philanthropic efforts and make a meaningful impact for the communities we serve.”

Formerly the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Campaign of Harvard Medical School (HMS), Sandra joins a robust development team at Spaulding that has raised millions to support Spaulding’s mission of care and research for persons with disabilities.

“As we have seen time and again, the need for a vibrant Spaulding to serve those in need and advance our understanding of care have never been greater,” said Scott Schoen, Chairman of the Board, Spaulding Rehabilitation. “Sandra’s extensive track record of results will help propel our efforts to support transformative care and research that are vital to our mission.”

Prior to her role at HMS, Sandra served in several other key leadership positions, including Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Vice President of Development for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library Foundation and Dean of Development & External Relations for the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Earlier in her career she worked in senior advancement positions for the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation and Save the Children Federation. 

“As a researcher and clinician I know the integral role an effective philanthropy program can have to advance the science and care we deliver to our patients. Our faculty and researchers are thrilled to have someone of Sandra’s extensive experience spearhead this critically important work  as we embark on creating new pathways of recovery.” said Dr. Ross Zafonte, Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, Research and Education at Spaulding and the Harvard Medical School Charlton Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

In addition to Spaulding Rehabilitation, Sandra will look to expand the philanthropy programs that support Partners HealthCare at Home which along with Spaulding comprises the Continuing Care Division of Partners HealthCare. Partners HealthCare at Home is one of the largest home health organizations in New England serving thousands of patients and families each year with services including private care, chronic disease management and telehealth among others.
