NBC 10 Boston's Caroline Connolly and Eli Rosenberg Join Spaulding Rehab's Marathon Team

Boston, MA – Spaulding, a leader in rehabilitative medicine and research, has added reporters Caroline Connolly and Eli Rosenberg from NBC 10 Boston and New England Cable News to the roster of its 2018 Spaulding Race for Rehab Boston Marathon© Team. For over ten years, Spaulding has fielded its “Race for Rehab” team to raise critical dollars to support its programs. The Spaulding Race for Rehab team has grown into one of Boston’s premier charity teams, this year with 78 runners expected to raise well over $600,000 to benefit Spaulding’s clinical care and research programs.

"It is an honor to team up with the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network," Rosenberg said. "In the coming months, I look forward to sharing the stories of patients with astounding perseverance and the dedicated work of those at Spaulding." Connolly added, “I am constantly inspired by the patients and staff I have met at Spaulding. This is a place that helps people lead lives that are not defined by injury or disability. It’s an honor to run for them."

Over the next two months, Caroline, Eli and their fellow team members will be training and fundraising.  Spaulding's programs include Stroke, Burn Injury, Amputee, Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury and Pediatric Rehabilitation. Also through specialty programs such as Adaptive Sports, Spaulding clinicians work to help people find ways to achieve the highest quality of life possible regardless of ability.

"As a runner myself and member of the team, I know the dedication and work it takes to commit to run Boston and the reward of doing it for an important cause," said David Storto, President, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. "To have the involvement of great community partners such as NBC 10 Boston and to have Caroline and Eli on our team will allow us to bring awareness and support to the team that will greatly benefit the communities we serve."

The 2018 Race for Rehab team and Spaulding will also be honoring the events and people of the Boston Marathon Bombings and the opening of the new Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown by commemorating the five-year anniversary.  Spaulding had an especially unique link to those events with 32 survivors over many months recovering from burns, limb-loss and other blast related trauma. The events illustrated the vital role of rehabilitation medicine and the many programs that are supported by fundraising.
